One wood fire. A warm home. Fresh-baked bread.

The Vermont Bun Baker XL puts your firewood to work three ways: heating your home, cooking family meals, and baking in a real wood-fired oven. With an enlarged firebox, spacious four-pot cooktop, and heating capacity of approximately 1,500–2,500 sq. ft., it's made for cabins, homesteads, country kitchens, and households seeking greater independence from electricity.

Bigger Firebox, Longer Burns

The XL's larger firebox holds more wood than the standard Bun Baker for extended heating and overnight burn capability. Firebrick lining helps retain heat and protect the firebox, while non-catalytic combustion delivers practical, straightforward wood heating. Reported efficiency is 78%; actual performance varies with fuel, climate, and installation.

Bake Bread, Pizza & Family Dinners

Enjoy homemade sourdough, casseroles, roasted meats, pizza, and desserts from the built-in oven. Close the bypass damper to route hot flue gases around the oven for baking; the adjustable oven-door vent helps release heat when needed. Cook and bake while your stove keeps the living space warm—no electric range required.

Four-Pot Cooktop & Removable Rings

The sturdy steel cooktop fits up to four large pots for soups, stews, frying, and boiling. Two removable cooking rings provide concentrated heat for wok cooking and other high-temperature recipes. Prepare an entire meal with one wood fire.

Simple Fire & Oven Controls

  • Top air slide: Feeds air above the fire and helps keep the viewing glass cleaner.

  • Bottom air slide: Adds combustion air, especially useful when starting a fire.

  • Bypass damper: Sends gases directly to the chimney or around the oven for baking; its control is on the left side panel.

Optional Soapstone Baking Deck

Add a soapstone baking deck for a heat-retaining surface suited to artisan breads and pizza. This special-order accessory may extend delivery time.
